The journey to the Platte took two hours. After being used to the rack and pinion railway for a few days, the fast train from Lauterbrunnen to Wilderswil (top three pix) seemed supersonic. The Schynige Platte Bahn was old-fashioned, with only two carriages per train and a vertiginous route up the mountain.
