The wind had come round to southerly and it was a warmer day on the Sunday. The fifth race of the morning was red-flagged, and we heard that the air ambulance was arriving. It stayed for about half an hour before leaving, and we walked about the paddock waiting for racing to restart. We heard that a rider had died after a seemingly innocuous accident in the centre of the track at a fairly slow point, and soon afterwards the organisers closed the meeting and asked us all to leave. Very sad.
