In the past three days, more than thirty larvae have crawled up reeds and the dragonflies have emerged into the sunlight. The switch from hanging out of the exuvia to swinging up and holding onto it while extricating the tail end of the body is quite quick. Once out, their eyes clear and they begin to pump their wings up and dry out the body. Within two hours they are ready to fly.
