Fowlmere

Early sunshine tempted me out to birdwatch, but it soon clouded over and there was little to do except  photograph geese in formation.  The sparrowhawk was the only tick of interest, and it didn't hang around.

Castles

Stokesay Castle, really a fortified manor house, has a feat of carpentry for its main hall roof and a yellow half-timbered house (seen from the tower).  Powis Castle, near Welshpool, has terraced gardens and a décolleté woman with a couple of trumpets about to be thrown from a horse.  Thanks to Peter and Jane for ferrying us around Shropshire.

The Venus Pools

Peter and Jane Howsam took us to the Venus Pools, where in spite of too-short lenses we photographed Woodpeckers, a White Wagtail, Lapwing and Brambling.
