Not many birds at all today. Though the harrier looked tatty, the Peacock butterflies were immaculate. The rest was the obvious!

Points to Consider
Changing the distributor on Molly Midget from points and condenser to electronic. First thing was to label each plug lead one to four ... but the tippex flaked off the rubber as soon as we pushed the insulators onto the plugs. The old (gold) coil was replaced with the new (red) coil with much swearing about the difficulty of access to the bolts, of which moving the heater air intake pipe was the simplest. The new system of numbering the plug leads worked better. The bolts for the distributor clamp were hard to get to when the dizzy was in place, and the clamp bolt is hidden behind the metal oil pipe you can see in front of the dizzy. Peter tidies up the wiring and prepares to check the timing after the engine started first time.

Nature in the Landscape
Marbled White in the Landscape, and Poppies in the Landscape. A novel idea, innit, nature in the landscape!

Thirty Degrees Celsius
A hot drive in convoy with Peter to Cambridgeshire's highest point, but Beatrice did not overheat or boil her oil, and she now has working brake lights. Here she is at Great Chishill windmill. Then in the evening Ann and I went to the wood and photographed Small Heath and Marbled White butterflies.

Autograss Again
Back to St Neots for a very hot day of racing. Hannah Spary, whose big crash I photographed a month ago, was back with a new Mini (SN118) and lost no time in spinning Chloe's pink Micra while trying to squeeze up the inside. Black Flag! Ringing the changes photographically becomes a challenge - the water carts were out frequently to keep the dust down, and turned it into mud which stuck to the cars. The red car actually came off worse than the yellowish Nissan, puncturing the front left tyre.

Motor Show 2
Mini convertible with hardtop and skirts looking nothing like the original; Jaguar Mk. 10 trad interior to compare with the Ford's space-age dash; modern Vauxhall engine to compare with the V8 in the Rover P6 from 1974.
