Griffon Power


The British were at D-Day too. This is the Griffon-powered Seafire. Look at how much rudder the pilot needs to use to counteract the slipstream from the propeller, and note that it's left rudder, not right rudder as in the Merlin-powered Spitfires. Something to remember before you open the throttle. Our pilot kept his head in the cockpit throughout his take-off run, but he probably couldn't see anything over that nose anyway.
