Washed Out Welney

The Ouse Washes were doing their job today, and the reserve was under water except for the main hide.  A Coot had found a piece of potato and the Pochards were not interested.  A Cetti's Warbler had nowhere to hide, while a more alert Pochard was in danger from low-flying heavies!

Back to the Wild

The Tawny Owl which was injured colliding with a window on 16th October was released back into the wild by St Ives Raptor Rescue today, and flew away quite happily.  Ann heard a Tawny calling during the night.

Pumpkin Patchers

Sadie and Meredith went to the Pumpkin Patch, which was very muddy, to buy pumpkins for Halloween.  They had their faces painted - Sadie's flower is wearing off; Meredith is a cat.

Out Of The Rain

We went to Ely with Barry today, and it rained, so we sheltered in the cathedral.  It has some impressive old radiators that look as if they just burned coal inside.
