Dedicated Followers of Fashion

Carnaby Street was crowded, perhaps because its Christmas decorations were more opulent than those in Oxford Street and Regent Street.  This was our first visit of the day, around lunchtime.

Oxford Circus

Wearying of Selfridge's, we lurked in Oxford Circus.  You can see from the red bus that a French company, RATP, operates some London buses.  Yellow bags continued to spread out in all directions. We must have stumbled upon a wifi hotspot, too.  

Oxford Street, Christmas Eve

Selfridge's yellow bags were things we aimed for, but the decisive moment was elusive.  Their windows were expensively decorated.  The bijou alley is St. Christopher's Place, which was saved from demolition in the 1960s, which now seems a very good move.  The lady in lime green looked a little behind the fashion times, and more people could have worn Santa hats!!

Art At The Tate

The swinging chrome ball certainly attracted attention, while Ann and I had fun with the mirrored cube with internal reflections.  The figures are from Jane Alexander's 'African Adventure' and Picasso's 'Weeping Woman' is a stunning use of Cubism.

Tate Modern 1

We walked from Euston to the Tate on the only day where museums and the like would be open during our stay.  This pix are from the Blavatnik Building, and taken with the (stabilised) 18-55mm lens instead of the 12mm prime.  Concrete appreciation at its finest!

Kings Cross

A bright pic of travellers at the station with the yellow Selfridges bag, and zoom out to show Ann on the left looking for a similar pic.  Then Paddington adding cuteness to a palatial reception area.  Lastly a politically-correct crib in an empty shop.  Designed to offend absolutely no one in the world except Christians?

Termini Londinium

We took our usual picture from the balcony of St Pancras's car park, looking towards Kings Cross, using slow shutter speeds (around 1/4 second).  Then into St Pancras, with the statue of its saviour John Betjeman and Chanel shop for those going under the Channel.  Another try at the new foot tunnel and then into Granary Square for the lights.
