Extraction!

One of my molars had been root-canalled years ago, and had cracked, as they often do after this treatment.  The dentist filled it twice on condition that the next time it would have to come out.  You can see the temporary filling in the top photo.

The crack is on this side.  One of the three roots broke when the main bit of the tooth came out, so getting the bit of root out took a while.  The long white thing is the filling of the root canal.

Job done!

Nero

On Sunday we met Peter and Holly in Nero's for lunch, then went to see Horrible Histories - The Movie, which featured the emperor Nero.  He tried to put down a rebellion in Essex . . .

Cooling Off

The temperature in Cambridge reached 100.6 degree F yesterday, the hottest place in the UK.  This morning was cooler and there were rumbles of thunder when we took M & S to Lammas Land pool with the whale and the flamingo.  They met a young friend from Class Acorn and had lots of fun.

Visiting Cambridge

A very hot afternoon and the CCC was out in force looking for subjects.

Evening Air Show

Presented with the Light Aircraft Association, but the brisk breeze kept many LAA homebuilts away and kept the WW1 aircraft on the ground.  Good display by an autogyro and fun with a Champ, who burst this balloon.  The Cri-Cri was fun.

Gamlingay Wood

The Silver-Washed Fritillaries were flying fast and high today, but I photographed a Green-Veined White, a Skipper and a Large White.

Toft Wood

Our local Marbled Whites are beginning to look rather worn, but the Skippers are still spruce.

Summer 48 Competition

Five titles from the CCC competition: from the top, 'Hot or Cold'; 'Full of Colour'; 'Abstract'; 'Looking Up' and 'Past Its Best'.

Flying Legends

On the Trident again, which I like.  The Red Arrows displayed two hours before the start of the flying, as they had to get back to Brize Norton, have lunch and get down to RNAS Yeovilton for a display there.  The top formation is 'Concorde', the next 'Spitfire' and the last a burst by the non-Enid aircraft (i.e. not the 'Famous Five'.)

Hover Flies

Practising with the macro lens, I found the flies more interesting than the flowers.

Ten Years of This Blog

So much has changed in that ten years - Canon to Fuji and MacFotos to Lightroom and RAW processing.  And of course Sadie and Meredith have come into our lives.

Bubbles and Friends

The Cat does not take kindly to being disturbed during his main snooze of the day.  You can see a plaster on Meredith's hand where he scratched her earlier.
