Air Show

Duty on the VC10 - a low-key air show, with the Typhoon as the only modern jet flying.  Lots of helicopters and aerobatics.  One of the 'period' illustrations on the VC10 was this copy of a 50's magazine about a young man who wants to join the RAF.  He certainly shows 'outstanding ability' in being able to lower the FIXED undercarriage of a Piston Provost.  :-)

Back At The Marsh

From the top: Marsh Harrier; Little Ringed Plover dabbling (presumably looking into the water, not into the air); flypast of Avocets; Glossy Ibis preening; Black Kite; fighting Stilts; Night Heron; Red-Knobbed Coot feeding chick; Stilts v. Avocet - hard to know which was the more aggressive species.

The Mortitx Valley

We went on a guided walk with Pere, a native Mallorcan with a deep knowledge of the island's flora and fauna.  We explored the far side of the Albufera and walked up the Mortitx valley.  From the top: our group; Pere; Bonelli's Eagle; Black Vulture; Egyptian Vultures; Eleanora's Falcon; Red Kite; Griffon Vulture and Stonechat.

Mallorca - the S'Albufera

With Ann, Jane, and John and Christine Bulpitt to our hotel of last year just opposite the Albufera Marsh.  The avocets had already bred and their chicks were running about.  We had good sightings of Great Reed Warbler, Purple Gallinule and Squacco Heron.

Olympus Walk

Olympus organised a walk around Cambridge and loaned kit to those who wanted to try out new cameras or lenses.  All of us were from the same club!
