Lackford Lakes
A CCC visit today. Didn't see the kingfisher but had coffee and cake. The migrant hawker dragonfly hovered helpfully right in front of the hide; top one at 1/1000th and lower at 1/500th. The top bird is a green sandpiper.

Dragonfly Pools
A club visit to the pools at Barton to photograph dragonflies. Curious cows and a noisy buzzard (one of four) made good alternative subjects.

Before The Rain
Today was forecast to be wet and did not disappoint. We based ourselves in the Lifeboat Cafe and photographed things on the shore. The bust in the RNLI museum is of Henry Blogg, G.C., B.E.M., coxswain of the Cromer lifeboat for 38 years. He neither smoked nor drank, and didn't swear - a very odd sailor indeed. He was a crab fisherman and rented out deckchairs in the summer.

Water Rail at Fowlmere
At first I didn't think this was any more than juvenile moorhen with a funny beak - wait a minute, it's a . . . damn, there it goes! But it came back and gave us several photo opportunities.
