From the top: 1985 Rover SDI 3500cc, BMW CSL 3-litre, Ford Escort RS 1800. Last three are of the 1953 Cooper-Bristol, with two litre six-cylinder OHC engine and the scars of many battles.

Donington Park (Morning)
The Historic Racing series for chaps called Henry and Nigel. The 1927 2-litre Bugatti of Martin Halusa cuts up the 1930 3-litre Hotchkiss AM80 of Steve Smith and apologises graciously. Spectators crowd the hill in front of the Craner Curves and experts cast a critical eye at the racing. The green single-seater is an Ausper T3 of 1098cc.

Meredith's Birthday Party
The theme was Pirates and Princesses, and while Meredith went as a princess, Sadie (in top pic) chose to be a pirate. Meredith managed to blow out four of her five candles, while her friend Ci-ci holds her breath.

Horseheath Eventing
We went to the eventing at Horseheath, taking Meredith at the last moment. She found lots of dogs and horses to talk to and met another dog called Amber and a little girl also called Amber. Then we collected a van from Alley Cat and I drove it to Paul's house with Meredith in the cab - she loved it!

Waresley Wood
The bluebells were just out, the primroses were blooming, and the blooming badgers were making toilets everywhere. Very neat, but musky-smelling.

Charlie's Hide
A sunny and almost windless morning at Burwell Fen, where haze was the only drawback to photography. The fox was an unexpected gem.

Re-Tern-ees
The terns were back at Paxton Pits today, and the nightingales were in full song, but neither were amenable to being photographed. I used a 2x converter on the 400mm but could not keep the terns in the frame; the gulls were easy-peasy in comparison.

Easter Fillies 1
Geoff showed us round the Stanley House Stud to see the new foals. We met Tommy the Teaser (the white stallion) whose job it is to let the stable staff know when the mares are in season, but whose fate it is never to mate with them. The bottom pic is also of a stallion recovering from being kicked in the head.

Waterbirds
We went to RSPB Fowlmere today and there was little but geese, so I'm putting up some other waterfowl. Close crops seem to work better than a wider view; we lose the big spray but the background is more uniform. Top two are of an unknown rider, the rest are Lucy Gadsby. (Top three pix with 600mm, others with 400mm.)
