Olympus Tele-work

Tried out the Olympus E-M1 and the 75-300mm zoom at the long end.  This is an f/6.7 lens, and I stopped it down to f/8.  These shots were under-exposed, and came up noisy.  The lens was sharper at shorter focal lengths, but at 1.2 kg including the E-M1 for an effectively 600mm reach it is hard to beat for identification shots.

Mother's Day

We all met Peter and Holly at the Botanic Gardens in Cambridge, along with hundreds of others who had the same idea.  Sadie was in an outgoing mood, and a good time was had by all.

Godmanchester Nature Reserve

Our first visit to the reserve in Cow Lane; we were looking for courting grebes.  We also saw a Sparrowhawk, aerobatic Buzzards, Heron and Little Egret.

Pit Gulls

Nothing unusual at the Pits today.  Staff were still working on the walkway to the Kingfisher Hide, so I had to use the Hayden instead, and the birds don't come so close to that one.  All the gulls seemed to be Black-Headed.

Cambridge In The Rain

Ann was in her element today, with umbrellas everywhere.

Lackford Lakes

Lots of gulls, posturing geese and a dozen herons at the Lakes today.  Widgeon and Gadwall were also present, and at least one Little Egret, but the Kingfisher did not show up at the DD Hide.
