South Bank Trail

The light was behind us all the way from the ferry.  This art deco factory unit was a surprise find on they way.  The Thames Barrier is not easy to photograph, but the gravel works have some attraction.  The sailing boats are at the Greenwich Yacht Club.  The towers of the Emirates Air Line stood out against the blue sky.

Across The River

It's amazing that the ferry is still free to vehicles and pedestrians.  There are three ferries, the James Newman, the Ernest Bevin and the John Burns.  Only one was operating today.  The old dry dock is on the south side of the river, and looking back, the refinery is on the north side.

Across The Dock

The morning was clear so we crossed the dock and headed for the Woolwich Free Ferry.  Top pix show an HS 146 approaching London City airport.  Pic 4 is the ferry landing stage and pic 5 is the Tate & Lyle sugar refinery.

Night Photography

We ventured out of our hotel around the Victoria Dock, armed only with table tripods, and photographed an aircraft landing at London City Airport - 13 seconds at f/10 - and the Yacht Hotel, both with the Samyang 12mm lens.

Tate Modern

Some images inside the Tate, shot at ISO 3200.

London Mist

We arrived at Liverpool Street about half-twelve and the mist was lingering, but by half-two it was crystal clear at the Millennium Bridge.  The Shard must have some light effect on the mist - this phenomenon was visible to the eye and changed as we moved.

Bank Holiday Tuesday

Concorde was very busy, and as the plastic screen had been removed from the engineers' panel I photographed the Machmeter with its Centre of Gravity 'bugs' and set to show Mach 2.02.  The Dynotaped number above is an installation number, not a date.  Meredith was fitting together a Blue Jay made of Lego, with tongue out!

Christmas Day

The scene at 6.30 this morning.  Bug's six day-old cut is healing, but the bruise is still yellow.  Sadie's teeth are growing and they had fun with the play-mat piano.

Touch-Down

Slow approach, flaps down, everything out, reverse thrust and let the long undercarriage absorb the impact.

Industrious Relations

Still in their pyjamas at noon, Sadie and Meredith were decorating their fairy wings.
