One More Go at the Wols

Another 40-minute dash to Burwell after work for the last fifteen minutes of daylight. This time I stood on the bridge over the lode and was partly hidden by the sides. All photos at 1/1000th second at high ISO.

Dusk Patwol

There were wols everywhere at Burwell this afternoon, in golden sunlight.

Wot, no wols?

Nope, too windy for the poor little dears. So Miles, Ann and I were reduced to photographing each other, muntjaks and RAF Tristars. The kite-style wol was from last weekend.

More wols

It looks like the African veldt, but it's still a fen in Cambridgeshire. Ann is very tired at the end of the safari.

Short-Eared Owls

Lovely low winter sun at Burwell Fen was perfect for photography of the owls.

Along the Lode

We went to Burwell late in the afternoon to see the Short-Eared Owls. Saw one at a distance, and a Barn Owl closer, but the sunset was already upon us.

Not a Well Midge

Sadie has had a gastric bug in the last couple of days, and is looking a little wan, but still cute as a box of kittens.

Open Day

Last Sunday the Friends of Duxford were able to attend lectures about the Short Sunderland Flying Boat and then go inside the museum's Mark V. The second photo shows the level underneath the flight deck and front turret. The third photo shows the flight deck - look at all that space! - with the radio operator's position to the left and the navigator's table to the right. The flight engineer's table further back controls the flow from the ten fuel tanks to the four engines and the auxiliary power unit, a 2 cylinder engine.

Wedding Day

Yesterday was El and Matt's wedding day. I had other duties, and there were plenty of photographers, so I had to wait until after the wedding lunch to take photos. Sadie was taken care of by Kim and James's daughter Neave, who had met her in Devon in the summer. The last one shows Sadie with her aunt Cath and El.
