Eleven and a Half Years ...

... after I last flew a light aircraft, I committed aviation once more from Lydd Airport in Kent. I flew the take off, landing and all the bits in between with only verbal prompts from the instructor, Joe Cunningham. We flew east past Folkestone and Dover, then north past Deal and across the Isle of Thanet, over Manston Airfield to the north coast of Kent at Reculver and then back to Lydd over Canterbury and Ashford. I was so enjoying the flying that I didn't get my camera out until we were past Ashford. It was my 60th birthday present from the family on the 20th anniversary of my first trial flight. Thank you Ann and everyone else.

Hackney Wick Graffiti

Four attempts to select arty bits of wall for photos near the Electric Matchbox art centre. The top one was a very interesting B&W graffiti overpainted by colour.

View from the Tower

The B&W photo is from 1979, the colour from 2011. The street leading in from the lower left is Canning Street, the one from the lower right is Huskisson Street. (See August 24th post for other views of this street.) Most of the empty spaces have been filled and a new something has been built the other side of Faulkner Square, the wooded area top left of the 2011 photo.

South Bedford Street, Liverpool

The black and white photo was taken in 1979. The play area is no longer there, so it was not possible to get to the original viewpoint. The 2011 photo shows scaffolding on what was the less-derelict of the two houses. The more-derelict house has been completely rebuilt.

Sadie Does Lunch

Sadie visited her cousins Finley and Hannah, who have lots of toys. She tried the barbeque and the stove and walked with a tray of cakes.

Sadie is Seventeen Months Old

Sadie thinks she's a dog. She watches them eat with great interest and climbs into their bed. However, being brought up by dogs has its disadvantages!

Olympic Site

The site is encircled by a high fence with electric razor wire and cameras on top. The old is being replaced by the new; Stratford Station and the new athletes' village.

Wok and Woll

Mum, Dad, Midge and I went to the Wok n Grill today. Then we visited Uncle Peter and Aunt Holly, who took the last photo.
