It was quite mild weather for November, so we went to Wells-next-the-Sea to meet El and Matt, who had taken Sadie for her first holiday. We had a meal at the Victoria Arms in Holkham to remember Edith Grady (Ann's mother, El's grandmother and Sadie's great-grandmother) who died last weekend. Sadie sat in a high chair for her first meal in a restaurant and watched everything carefully.
Nothing puts a dedicated wildlife photographer off his stroke, so this stream of squit from a red kite did not interrupt the steady whirr of frames per second at Watlington hill. Note the carefully-chosen dark background.
At Westonbirt Arboretum this morning, I saw goldcrests flitting around a tree, hovering to snatch something from places in the twigs. The autofocus went beserk, jumping onto every twig, and of course goldcrests are very small. I got one frame - this one.
This is the effect of a slow pan from the three-quarter view. The nose of the car is sharp, but the rest becomes progressively more blurred, yet the nose is travelling faster relative to the lens! I like the effect. 300mm lens, 1/30th at f/11
