Kookaburra

Shakespeare walks into a pub. The landlord says, "You're barred!"
Ha ha de ha ha!

Much Ado about Nothing.

"Mum, what's so great about primates?"
"They have opposable thumbs, Rhinaldo."

Call themselves Primates!

It wasn't Caesar who said, "Friends, Rodents, etc.", it was Mark Anthony, cos Caesar had ceased to be, he was an ex-emperor! They know nothing, these lemurs!

Grey Wolf

One of the four wolves at the Cotswold Wild Life Park. They had a fairly small enclosure for such long-loping animals.

In accordance with the government's plan, six month-old babies have to have work experience. You're 'aving a larf, in'cher?

Edith's Sense of Wonder

Edith was laid to rest today. Tributes spoke of her sense of wonder at the natural world. Here, last April, she was fascinated by Fin's little hand.

Children's Menu

Sadie thought the menu was good, so she chewed it.

At the Seaside

It was quite mild weather for November, so we went to Wells-next-the-Sea to meet El and Matt, who had taken Sadie for her first holiday. We had a meal at the Victoria Arms in Holkham to remember Edith Grady (Ann's mother, El's grandmother and Sadie's great-grandmother) who died last weekend. Sadie sat in a high chair for her first meal in a restaurant and watched everything carefully.

High Street, Burford

I have never seen so many art and antique shops in one street as in this Oxfordshire village.

Well documented

Nothing puts a dedicated wildlife photographer off his stroke, so this stream of squit from a red kite did not interrupt the steady whirr of frames per second at Watlington hill. Note the carefully-chosen dark background.

Goldcrest Hovering

At Westonbirt Arboretum this morning, I saw goldcrests flitting around a tree, hovering to snatch something from places in the twigs. The autofocus went beserk, jumping onto every twig, and of course goldcrests are very small. I got one frame - this one.

Caterham 7

This is the effect of a slow pan from the three-quarter view. The nose of the car is sharp, but the rest becomes progressively more blurred, yet the nose is travelling faster relative to the lens! I like the effect. 300mm lens, 1/30th at f/11

Waiting for the Gig

I was working the lighting at this gig, so I was able to alter it to suit myself.
