Notre Dame in Flames

The cathedral caught fire this evening, destroying the roof and spire.  Quasimodo's bell tower was not damaged.

Fowlmere

We went to Fowlmere to practise shooting from hides with small tripods that don't take up lots of space but carry the weight of the camera and lens.  Table-top tripods are too low, and there's not so much choice in the 9 to 12 inch range.  The pair of Marsh Harriers were active but not close.

Fingringhoe Wick

A large and varied reserve on the banks of the River Colne.  Heard Nightingale and Cetti's, saw Sparrowhawk and Peregrine, Linnet and G.S. Woody.  And a snake.  Pictured here are Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Oystercatchers and a male Kestrel.

Dragonfly Hotel

Staying at the hotel while Ann talked at Halstead. We explored nearby fields for insects.  They were scarce.

Classic Cars (Two)

In spite of a forecast for light showers, it chucked it down.  Not enough to produce really good spray - by the time the Jaguars raced, there was not enough surface water.

Classic Cars (One)

It was as usual colder at Snetterton than at the North Pole.  The souped-up Smart cars went well and didn't fall off the track at every corner.  And you can get two of them on a normal trailer!  Most races were 40 minutes, except the Jaguars, which probably didn't have enough fuel to blast round for that long, so they only did 20.
