Martin Down Reserve

Visited the reserve on our way to Bournemouth.  No sign of the Adonis Blue, or the Grizzled Skipper, but we saw Small Tortoiseshell, Dark Green Fritillary, Common Blue and Clouded Yellow.

Magnette for Blondes

I tried to wash my MG today, and this blonde insisted upon doing it.  Well, the lower half, mostly.

Wedding Photographer's Assistant

I helped Ann with a wedding somewhere in Suffolk.  It was humid and there were frequent rain showers, and all in the middle of August.  My job as usual was to catch the details.  The interior was black woodwork and yellow lighting.  I used the 5D iii at ISO 6400 and its quiet mode enabled me to shoot during the ceremony.  Image stabilisation did the rest.

Wicken Fen

A visit to the Fen to do photography with filters.  This Red Underwing Moth was sleeping on the windmill.  Ann and friends were deep in the fen.

Life Forms in our House

Sadie was given a Dalmatian costume when she was two and a half, and was frightened by it.  All that seems to have changed now.  Peanut is fascinated by this dog that doesn't notice him but still thinks it's safer higher up.

Roadside Wildlife

With Ann, Richard and Stan to Aston Rowant Nature Reserve next to the M40, where I was surprised to see a Raven.  The slopes were full of Chalk Hill Blue butterflies, and Silver-Spotted Skippers, of which I glimpsed one.  The Kites were very tatty, and refused to come down for the scraps at Chris's Cafe in Stokenchurch.  

Bugs at Barton

It was windy again, but the conservation field is sheltered by tall trees.  The butterflies were looking a bit worn, but the flies were spruce.  Oh, and the Martians had landed ...
