Sunday Before Breakfast

After an uncomfortable night's sleep we got up for the dawn light.  The Wellington Pier (the French really should not come to Yarmouth!) doesn't go as far as it did.  The breakfast was excellent, but discovered on MoTD that Liverpool were knocked out of the F. A. Cup at home against West Brom!

Great Yarmouth

We took Sarah to Yarmouth to meet up with Barry and Sue for the weekend.  Checked in at the Nelson Hotel, a place not recommended for French people sensitive to Napoleonic defeats.  (Our room, 300, was top right in the picture.)  We explored the front at dusk and had fish and chips at the Lion & Herring.

Back with the Wols

The Short-Eared Owls have settled this year in the Nene Washes instead of Burwell Fen.  I went with Chris to photograph them.  We had a wonderful day and saw Fieldfares, Sparrowhawks, a Red Kite, Buzzards, a Marsh Harrier, Cranes, Swans, Lapwings, a pair of Stonechats and the lovely female Kestrel.

The Pits Gears Up

Big birds fetch branches for their nests and a grebe finds a carp.  It had difficulty swallowing the fish and eventually a gull swooped down and the grebe dived below the surface.  When it came up again, it no longer had the fish in its beak.

Little Miss Orderly

Sadie arranged all the Mister Men books she could find and then set about re-arranging them.  Meredith helped.

St. Ives

The winds had blown over trees and high-sided vehicles and blocked roads, including the M11, so our coach trip to London had to be abandoned and we took the Guided Bus to St Ives.  I was looking for a picture for 'Red' in the iComp.
